I/O Boards Add USB 2.0 And Firewire To PC/104+ Systems

MiniModule ESBClaiming an industry first, the MiniModule I/O expansion boards deliver USB 2.0 support to PC/104+ systems. Stacking with a CPU board, the MiniModule USB2 module connects the PCI/104+ bus to a USB controller, which integrate plug-and-play capability into the system. Pricing starts at under $150 in single quantities and less than $100 each in moderate volumes. AMPRO COMPUTERS INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 360-4324.

The MiniModule™ USB2 board provides a high performance PCI-based platform for incorporation of up to four USB 2.0 devices into a PC/104-Plus embedded system. Based on the December 2000 Version of the USB 2.0 standard, the MiniModule USB2 offers support for the latest USB 2.0 devices such as 802.11 WiFi interfaces or high performance video capture while maintaining backward compatibility with earlier USB 1.1 devices. USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices can be mixed in the system. The card provides both PC/104-Plus and PC/104 interfaces, although the PC/104 interface is utilized only to pass through bus signals and for mechanical stability. Control signals are all obtained from the PC/104-Plus (PCI) bus.
