Silicon Imaging, Inc., specializes in the design and marketing of patented digital cameras, image processing, stereo 3D and 360 workflow solutions for immersive content creation for streaming and digital cinema delivery.
Silicon Imaging developed the SI-2K camera, used to shoot Slumdog Millionaire, the first Feature to win the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Cinematography to be primarily shot in a Digital format. Director Danny Boyle and Cinematographers Anthony Dod Mantle and Enrique Chediak then used the cameras to shoot 127 Hours starring James Franco. receiving Academy nominations for Best Picture.
The SI-3D system which followed, used a pair of these camera to synchronously capture stereo content was used on Award Winning and Blockbuster movies and documentaries including Saw 3D, Cave of Forgotten Dreams and The Cove, and Transformers 3D. Silicon Imaging received the Lumiere Award or Best Technology from the International 3D Society.
A 9-camera rig, for capturing 360 panoramic content was used to shoot Niagara Fury, the immersive experience venue at the Niagara Falls Visitor Center. A 360 nodal mirror rig version of this system received the Immy award for innovation in Immersive technology.
